Tommy Long
was employed with the Florida Department of Citrus Research
for 25 years holding various positions and increasing in
responsibility throughout his tenure. After six years, Tommy
was promoted to the Department of Citrus Scientific Research
Pilot Plant Manager and held that position for 19 years. In
that role, Tommy scheduled pilot plant research projects,
supervised employees, maintained records of pilot plant
research, located and purchased equipment, parts, and supplies
needed for pilot plant operation. Tommy then joined Renewable
Spirits LLC as Pilot Plant Supervisor where he coordinated
installation of processing equipment for fermenting citrus
waste used to make ethanol. Tommy also operated and
maintained processing equipment including: transfer pumps,
steam cooker, flash tank, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps,
vacuum cooling tanks, mixers and fomenter tanks.
